Buy fossils – rare witnesses to Earth's history
Welcome to Morocco Minerals & Fossils! If you are looking for high-quality, genuine fossils, you've come to the right place: We bring selected pieces from one of the richest fossil regions in the world directly to you – honestly described, carefully packaged, and shipped worldwide.
Our focus is on crinoids from Erfoud. In addition, we can broker ammonites, trilobites, orthoceras and other Moroccan fossils upon request – from beginner-friendly specimens to museum-quality individual pieces.
The diversity of Moroccan fossils
Few countries offer collectors such a wide range: crinoids and sea lilies with preserved stems, calyxes, and arms; spiral ammonites ; primitive trilobites; and the elongated shells of orthoceras cephalopods. Each of these fossils tells a chapter from over 400 million years of marine history.
For beginners, polished ammonites or smaller crinoid hand specimens are suitable; advanced collectors seek complete slabs, rare species, or particularly fine preparations. Museums and decorators favor large-format, striking individual pieces.
Simply tell us what you are looking for – we will check our inventory and our local network and get back to you with specific suggestions, photos and prices.
Morocco – a treasure trove of Earth's history
During the Paleozoic Era, a shallow, warm sea covered large parts of what is now Morocco. Its limestone-rich deposits preserved the inhabitants exceptionally well – and the dry desert climate now exposes these layers instead of destroying them. This has resulted in world-class archaeological sites around Erfoud and along the Atlas Mountains.
Over generations, genuine craftsmanship has developed in the region: families who know the geological strata and preparators who spend hundreds of hours uncovering delicate fossils. This local expertise is the reason why Moroccan pieces are found in collections worldwide.
Rudi and Salim Wald have been working with these people for decades – fairly, directly, and with respect for the fossil sites. Read more about the region in our guide to fossils in Morocco .
Our roots in paleontology
From Eomanis waldi to the sea lily
Fossils are more than just commodities to us. Rudi Wald discovered the fossil that now bears his name as Eomanis waldi – one of the oldest known pangolins. This connection to science continues to shape our work today: We want every specimen to be correctly identified, honestly described, and presented with respect.
The story behind it
Quality and authenticity – our promise
The fossil market has a dark side: composite slabs, recarved details, or completely cast pieces – especially in the case of trilobites. Laypeople often only recognize inferior products once they're home.
That's why we examine every piece ourselves, know our preparators personally, and openly disclose any restorations. If we're not convinced, we don't sell it – our standard is that simple.
Fossils as a special gift
A genuine fossil is a truly unique gift – millions of years old, with its own history and character. Whether for a birth, an anniversary, or for a nature lover's desk: we'll help you find the perfect piece to suit the occasion and your budget.
Upon request, we will include a brief description of the fossil – species, age, region of origin – so that the gift can also tell its story.
Responsible collecting
Fossils are a limited natural heritage. We source our pieces from established, legal mining areas, work directly with local families, and pay fair prices – entire communities in the Erfoud region depend on this for their livelihood.
Scientifically significant individual finds belong in research and museums – that too is part of our self-image as dealers.
